R. Kelly Jailed for Sex Crimes

An American multiple award-winning singer and a chronic sexual abuser, Robert Sylvester Kelly, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for recruiting and trapping teenagers and women for sex.

It could be recalled that throughout his career, the R&B singer, R Kelly, as popularly known, was repeatedly accused of sexual abuse with underaged girls. Reports have it that R Kelly witnessed multiple arrests, civil suits, indictments, and trials, which he allegedly outmaneuvered through bail, bribery and threats.

This act, which seem like an addiction to the American songwriter, led him into a marriage with underaged Aaliyah, a supposed protege. Kelly was also alleged of sex-cult, as he reportedly made his employees sign a “non-disclosure agreements”, which included not entering some certain room at the studio, where he was said to keep his victims.

Amongst evidences levelled against Kelly was a circulating video depicting him to sexually abuse a girl traced to be minor and several images of the abused minor in the video allegedly found on a digital camera when his residence was searched.

The twenty-one (21) accusations levelled against Kelly were racketeering, sexual exploitation of a child, kidnapping, bribery, sex trafficking, violation of the Mann Act, producing child pornography, amongst others.

Although, Kelly has always found a way of boycotting any charge levelled against him, however, reverse was the case in 2021, when the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, tried and won the first criminal conviction against Kelly. Found guilty on a nine criminal count by the jury, Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in Prison on the 29th of June, 2022.

However, Kelly’s trial was heard in the Northern District of Illinois, as a result of his continuous effort to challenge the New York Conviction.

Kelly was held custody at the Metropolitan Correctional Centre, Chicago, before the case was finally be heard in court.

Kelly was tried for allegedly producing child sexual abuse material and conspiring with his employees to win his 2008 acquittal through corrupt means.
