The “Indomie” generation we are, presently depicts the nature of how “instant” noodles are, or better still, more “instant” the noodles are.
Almost everyone in this generation wants to get the end result of everything done, immediately after commencement. This act has placed a good percentage of Nigerian youths under unnecessary and irrelevant pressures, which they get to lose lots of stuff while trying to keep up with the pressure.
Youths now set targets for themselves, without having the necessary facilities and equipment to meet up with these targets, hence, they get involved in lots of unhealthy and ungodly activities, which sometimes wretch or claim their lives, while trying to meet up with these targets. They live everyday of their lives in panic and fear of what could spring out from the “dungeons” they drink water from.
Although, when you get to ask these victims, what led them into what they are now, they would always cite issues that are pioneered by Nigerian factors. Yes, the country might have failed us, but we should not stab ourselves to prove to the society how much blood we can spill to express our emotions. No, we should not.
Life might have come hard against us; coming hard against ourselves, won’t make the burden lighter, instead it makes it heavier, deadlier, and of course, makes us vulnerable.
By now, every youth in Nigeria should know that he is all by himself, hence, the need to digest the fact that “your shit is all yours, not anyone’s”.
While there are factors that can make you fast track the hand of clock, there is a need for you to take a break, examine if it is truly worth it, re-strategize on your plans and pray, before conceiving odd thoughts in your beautiful soul.
If at all you are feeling perplexed on this journey to limelight, do well to take a break, check up on yourself, look after your mental health. There might be a need to upgrade your skills, polish your profile and explore your creativity. Regardless of how fast the generation is moving, slow and steady will not only win the race, the race will be won victoriously, with no record of casualty.
Remember, we all came into this world at a different time, so we are not bound to hit our spotlights at the same time.
