Government Girls Secondary School, Zangon Dakata received FASI Team, Kano Chapter in commemoration of the International Women’s Day.
With emphasis on the need to give women equal opportunities, giving prominent examples of women who fought their way to the top, the girls were sensitized on the importance of formal education, acquisition of skills and career development.
According to Mallam Tahir Mahmoud, women and girls can break the bias when they have equal access to education and they are empowered. He further advised the girls on the need to utilize their skill and or learn a skill. This will give them an opportunity to reach the height of their career irrespective of their gender.
With relevant examples of women that got to the peak of their career, FASI charged the girls to break the bias by engaging in activities of their choice and also acquire skills they have passion for.
Also during the programme, some challenges caused by financial meltdown were highlighted, which FASI promised to address.
